Welcome to the 8^th Tony Oates memorial and there we were thinking that 2005 would be the last one… well I have to do things in round numbers so if we have come this far together then we may as well go all the way to number 10 and then maybe we hang up our boots, what say yee?

It seems a very long time ago since I first set foot in Cuckfield (21 years ago to be exact) and it was very welcoming then and still remains a great place to play and seems only fitting to have the day here on a ground that bears so much resemblance to the Trelawney C.C. ground back in Zim (both fields have a big tree at cow corner). To all those of you who have been coming down for the last couple of years thank you for the support to both my family and the cricket club.

With all the crap that is going on back in Zim it would really be great to get together with as many Zimbos as possible so if there are any of the older generation that are now living in the UK it would be great to see them down at the day, so if your folks are in the UK or know of people who have moved over please get them to come down, mum would love to catch up with them. As you are all probably aware by now the reason for the website is to get people to register so that we have some idea of numbers and interest in the day.

There is always a load to arrange and anyone who could lend a hand umpiring, scoring, cooking, braaing etc would be greatly appreciated. Lastly but by no means least I would like to say a massive thank-you to Phil Middleton for putting together the site this year, again…. To all the stalwarts – once again thanks for the support over the years, to the virgins welcome to the jungle! Look forward to seeing you all at the day. Cheers Oatesie
